ALL ABOUT GAUDÍ

Antoni Gaudí is the most internationally renowned Catalan architect.

Gaudí is one of the greatest references to modernism, whose mission was to seek perfection in art and be inspired by the organic elements of nature to create his architectural works: "To do things well, love is first necessary and technique second" .

In 1883, when he was 31 years old, he took possession of the execution of the work of La Sagrada Familia, to which he dedicated 43 years of his life, until he died tragically run over by a tram in 1926. Antoni Gaudí was buried in the Crypt of the same Sagrada Familia.

But Gaudí did other works such as Park Güell, which belongs to his naturalist period. At the entrance to the enclosure we can see the Pavilions, which are in the purest Gaudinian style, we continue with the stairway in which three fountains can be distinguished, and in the third is the Dragon covered in colored Trencadís, and in the last section is It places a bench in the shape of an odeon, which gives it sun in winter and shade in summer.

In 1904, Gaudí began the comprehensive reform of Casa Batlló, completely changing the façade, and turning the interior into a true work of art, since Gaudí was in charge of both the building as a whole, as well as the details of the exterior and interior decoration, in terms of furniture, objects, work with wrought iron, and above all the ceramic trencadís, which is the most representative icon of catalan modernism and Gaudí's architecture. Casa Batlló is currently a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Casa Milà or commonly known as La Pedrera, was built between 1906 and 1912 and is Antoni Gaudí's most emblematic civil building, both for its constructive and functional innovations as well as for its ornamental and decorative ones. It is a total work of art that is again inspired by nature.

But his works do not end here, far from it, we could cite a large number of them such as Casa Vicens, the Gaudí Crypt in Colonia Güell, El Palau Güell, El Capricho, etc... and if you want to know more we recommend our books for that you discover the life and work of this great genius who was Antoni Gaudí.
