THE FLOWER PANOT TILE, THE SYMBOL OF BARCELONA
The Flower Panot is a symbol of our city. It is part of our daily life in Barcelona. Although it sometimes goes unnoticed, it has become an iconic image that is everywhere, even under the soles of your shoes. But do you know what it means? Do you have any idea who designed it and when? Here we explain a little about its origin and how it has become one of the most deeply rooted symbols of the city of Barcelona.
The Panot of Barcelona is a tile made of concrete and represents a flower with four petals. Its design is attributed - wrongly - to the Catalan architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, the same one that designed the Casa Amatller. Originally it was designed for this house, but later they used it to pave numerous streets in Barcelona, especially l'Eixample and the mythical neighborhoods of Barcelona. Those in charge of the design that paved much of the city was the Escofet House.
At Artgaudí we are in love with the city of Barcelona and its most iconic symbol - with permission from Gaudí's Sagrada Familia-. That is why Artagudí has numerous products that pay tribute to the Flor del Panot in Barcelona. What do you think of our fantastic and special handbags, bags and masks?
